Rafting the Upper Gauley River is serious whitewater for serious paddlers! You’ve done the New River, challenged the Middle/Lower Gauley River and now you’re ready for the next step. Well, grab your gear and get ready for excitement. This is the premier one-day rafting trip in West Virginia! After all, this is the section of river rafting where the Gauley River festival known as “Gauleyfest” takes place.

The Upper Gauley River drops over 335 feet in less than 9 miles. The Upper Gauley River is the essence of big water rafting excitement creating an intense whitewater experience not recommended for the faint of heart or first time rafters. If untamed adventure is what you're looking for, you'll discover more than 40 white water rapids in all, five of which are rated as solid Class V's.
The Upper Gauley River is continuous, big volume, gut-wrenching whitewater from start to finish. Due to the intense nature of this trip, prior rafting experience and the ability for self-rescue are recommended.
*2009 Season runs Friday-Monday, September 11th-October 18th. Keep in mind that October 17th is West Virginia's famous Bridge Day. We will also be running the Lower New River on that day.
